Acid Savings
One of the highest operational costs in today’s alkylation units is Sulfuric Acid. Although called a catalyst, the entire amount of catalyst seldom returns to its original state. Unwanted side reactions consume the catalyst and makeup acid is required to return the reaction to equilibrium.
